William Joseph "Bo" Bohannon Obituary

William Joseph “Bo” Bohannon, born on January 29, 1944, in Silverhill, AL, passed away at his home in Decatur, AL on February 6, 2025. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed.

Bo is survived by his three daughters, Cyndi Thompson (Gary), Samantha Dimon (Geoffrey), and April Pointer (Dave); his son, Jarrod Bohannon (Lori); three stepchildren: Steve Holt, David Holt (Sherry), and Jacqueline Schlangen (Gary). He is also survived by his younger brother, Jerry Bohannon, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished dearly.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Little Bohannon; his mother, Ruby Lee Botts; his father, Calvin Joseph Bohannon; his brother Calvin “Dub” Bohannon; and his sister, Ellen Bohannon Scott.

A man of faith, Bo found great joy in his church and the comfort of his beliefs. He also had a deep love for cats, always appreciating their companionship and unique personalities. His kindness, wisdom, wittiness, and unwavering love for his family left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Bo was a 1962 graduate of J.M. Tate High School, where he excelled as a prolific trombone player and was deeply involved in school activities. A natural leader, Bo served as Senior Class President and Captain of the Band. He was also an active member of the Exchange Club, Beta Club, Debate Club, and the Honor Guard. After graduating, Bo attended Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston Campus, in Perkinston, Mississippi, on a music scholarship, where he studied both business and music. His passion for music and dedication to his community left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his dynamic intellect, natural leadership, and entertaining wit he brought to everyone around him. Bo’s legacy will continue in the hearts of those who loved him.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the pallbearers who will honor Bo’s  memory during the funeral service. Blair Temple, Gary Schlangen, Geoffrey Dimon, David Pointer, Aidan West Bohannon-Thornton, and Bob Fite have all been chosen to carry Bo to his final resting place. Each of these individuals played an important role in Bo’s life, and their support during this time of loss speaks to the love and friendship that will continue to be felt for years to come.
