Funeral service for Vera Dean (Dotson) Ricketts, age 92, of Moulton will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Williams and Rev. Jamie Suggs officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Dancy's Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Ricketts, who died Friday, December 13, 2024, at her residence, was born May 1, 1932, in Alabama to Joseph Monroe "Jodie" Dotson and Lela Morgan Dotson. She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Ricketts (Ann), and her parents. She was a member of First Holy Church of Christ in Decatur, where her late husband, Bro. James Leonard Ricketts, II, was pastor for more than 20 years. Mrs. Ricketts was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was a devoted Christian and loved to read her Bible.
She is survived by two sons, Dean Ricketts (Pam) and Joseph Ricketts (Charlotte); brother, Ellifiar Dotson (Carlotte); sister, Earline Thrasher (Wendell); 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ricketts, Benji Ricketts, Jeremy Ricketts, Jamie New, Blake Hamby, and Brandon Turrentine.
