Funeral service for Tony Joel Yarbrough, age 79, of Decatur, will be 1:00 p .m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steadman Livingston officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Yarbrough, who died Sunday, March 16, 2025, at his residence, was born April 27, 1945, in Alabama to Quinton Yarbrough and Ruthie Terry Yarbrough. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, C. W. Yarbrough and Carlton Yarbrough. Tony loved to cook and host family and friends. He especially enjoyed being surrounded by his kids and grandkids any time of year but summer time cookouts at the pool were his favorite. He was always ready for traveling adventures with his beloved wife, sisters, and camping buddies. Tony adored animals of all kinds -- even ants. He was constantly on the lookout for a good deal. He valued the outdoors from beaches to canyons to working in the yard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Thrasher Yarbrough; two daughters, Angela Clark and Tonya Garmany (Greg); two sisters, Glenda Yarbrough and Kay Mesa Hart (Hal); brother-in-law, Joe Thrasher, Jr.; five grandchildren, Carrington Kelly (Ben), Graham Clark (Kathriel), Kennadi Cartee (Aaron), Conner Garmany, and Zach Garmany (Stephanie); and two great-grandchildren, Jackson Garmany and Blake Mae Cartee.
Pallbearers will be Graham Clark, Zach Garmany, Ben Kelly, Aaron Cartee, John Gibson, and Sam Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Mesa, Jeremy Yarbrough, and Eugene Yarbrough.
