Mrs. Turner was born November 8, 1944, in Alabama to Madison Letson and Bertha Kelly Letson. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Medford Letson, Billy Joe Letson, and William T. Letson; and three sisters, Zoa Mae Letson Fetz, Mammie Letson Peppers, and Lassie Letson Hobbs. Sylvia was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who passed peacefully on August 29, 2025. She will be remembered for the immense love she carried in her heart, the kindness she so freely gave, and the many ways, she touched the lives of everyone around her. She devoted her life to helping others, always offering a listening ear or helping hand. To her children, she was not only a mother, she was comfort, a safe place, and our biggest supporter who always showed unconditional love. We will miss her deeply, but we know she will always be with us in the lessons she taught, the love she gave, and the memories we hold close.
She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Turner (Paula), Steven Turner, and Kelvin Turner (Misty); brother, Matthias Letson (Carolyn); two sisters, Vernel Letson Shafer (Bob) and Flora Letson Bradford; five grandchildren, Meagan Turner, Zachary Turner, Brilee Turner, Kayla Himburg, and Caitlyn Himburg; and great-grandchild, Kyndall Himburg.
Pallbearers will be Kelvin Turner, Jimmy Turner, Zachary Turner, Ricky Williams, Brent Sparks, and Steven Turner.
