Susan Louise (Kersey) Scott, age 79, of Decatur, AL went to be with her Lord on March 2, 2026, at Decatur Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Parkway Funeral Home of Trinity, AL is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Scott was born March 27, 1946, in Florida to Earl Kersey and Sherlee Montgomery Kersey. She was married to James Scott who preceded her in death in 2024. In 1960, she moved from Florida to Decatur, where she remained until her death.
She was very devoted to her faith and her church, Spring Avenue Nazarene Church in Decatur. She was a Sunday School teacher for adults, served in bus ministry, served on many different boards in the church, and sang in the choir. She was passionate about mission work, and serving family and other people’s needs.
She and her husband were volunteers with Decatur Police Department for many years. Her specialty was working with domestic violence victims.
She is survived by sons, Neil McLean (Amy), Tate McLean, and Tim Scott; daughter, Trudy Carney (Mike); and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a large host of friends.
Her memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Spring Avenue Nazarene Church with Pastor Rev. John Branch officiating.
Susan’s request was that memorial donations be made to Spring Avenue Nazarene Church, 3930 Spring Avenue, S W, Decatur, AL 35603.
