Shirley Ann (Finchum) Whitaker

The family of Shirley Ann Whitaker, age 77, of Town Creek, who died Thursday, April 25, 2024, at her residence, will host a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Prayer Tabernacle (8998 Alabama Highway 101, Town Creek, AL 35672) with Rev. Mrs. Whitaker was born July 24, 1946, in Alabama to A. J. Finchum and Lucille Finchum Pylant.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Sherrill, and her parents.  Shirley served at the VFW, where she was lovingly known as Squirrell.  An accomplished pianist, Shirley's early life was enjoyed performing with a gospel group known as The Harmonettes.  She was a loving and devoted mother to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Dewayne Sherrill (Robin), Jason Whitaker, and Brian Whitaker; daughter, Vivian Allen (Ray); brother, Steve Finchum (Deb); nine grandchildren, Brittany, Caleb, Haley, Hunter, Blake, Skylar, Harley, Lily, and Houston; and seven great-grandchildren, Braiden, Carson, Arizona, Aliyah, Addyson, Remington, and Josie.
