Robert Nelson Laremore Obituary

Rev. Robert Nelson Laremore, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on Sunday, June 7 th , 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on April 3rd , 1944 in Indianapolis, IN, Deacon Bob lived a life marked by Christian discipleship, kindness, caring for others, hard work, and devotion to his family. He was known for his generous spirit, integrity & strength of character, sense of humor, and the love he shared with those around him.

Bob is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Becky Ann (Brunson) Laremore; three children, Dawn Marie Fisher (Doug), Matthew David Laremore, and Michelle Denise Jordan (Alan); eight grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Devin (Julia), and Justin Fisher, Joseph and Lillian Laremore, Andrew and Jessie Jordan; and two great-grandchildren, Calvin and Phoebe Laremore.

Bob graduated from St. Meinrad High School in 1962, and Marian College in 1966, both in Indiana. He met Becky at Marion, and they were married November 5, 1966. They lived in Indianapolis, IN until they moved to Ft. Worth, TX in 1976. Bob attended weekend seminary courses while working full-time as a chemist and was ordained a permanent deacon in the Catholic church on October 30, 1982, with the Ft. Worth Diocese. He left his profession as a chemist to pursue ministry full-time in 1983 and served as Assistant Pastor at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton, Tx. In 1993, Bob and Becky were commissioned by Glenmary Home Missions to establish a Catholic mission in Lawrence County, AL. Living near Moulton, Bob collaborated with the Baptist Association, Rotary Club, and other local churches and organizations to establish the Good Samaritan Outreach Program, which served Lawrence County, AL.  Bob retired from Glenmary in 2009.

Bob and Becky began camping and volunteering in the National Parks and Wildlife Refuges until the COVID pandemic hit the U.S. They traveled to see state parks, friends, and family across the U.S., treasuring the people and places they visited. Bob is remembered for his sense of humor, his love of God’s creation in nature and people, and love for the Dallas Cowboys and his country. He will be deeply missed and remembered with love.

Robert Nelson Laremore will be honored by a Memorial Mass at Resurrection Catholic Chapel, in Moulton, AL on Friday, June 12, 2026, and will be buried in Washington Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN. The family would like to thank the staff at Decatur Morgan Hospital, Centerwell Home Health, and Hospice of North Alabama for the excellent care they provided.
