Funeral service for Richard Harllis Sandlin, age 85, of Decatur will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Williams officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens. Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.
Mr. Sandlin, who died Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at his residence, was born December 19, 1939, in Alabama to William Ed Sandlin and Annie Mary Rainey Sandlin. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Darrin Sandlin; parents; brother, Gurney Sandlin; and son-in-law, Timothy Ken Boyles. Richard enjoyed cars. In his younger days he was a stock car racer in Chicago, IL and Alabama. He won countless races in the dirt track and figure 8 racing circuits. He was even the overall figure 8 champion of Chicago. Also, he drove trucks for a living where he was able to explore many parts of the United States. However, the most important part of Richard's life was his family, who will miss him deeply.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Kelly) Sandlin; daughters, Rhonda Sandlin Boyles and Delana Sandlin Felice; four grandchildren, Justin M. Boyles (Whitney), Keslie Boyles Garrett (John), Marlee Marie Felice, and Brynn Avery Felice; and great-grandchild, Jailee Payton Garrett.
Pallbearers will be Damon Parker, Dakota Calhoun, Shannon Hill, Johnny Beard, Patrick "FatCat" Spillers, and Wayne Woodard. Honorary pallbearer will be Craig Terry.
