Newt Leslie Barnett

Funeral service for Newt Leslie Barnett, age 88, of Trinity will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scotty Letson officiating.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.  

Mr. Barnett, who died Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at his residence, was born March 12, 1938, in Alabama to Andy Barnett and Vinnie Abner Barnett.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Irene Barnett; sons, Perry Barnett and Allen Hawkins; parents; eight brothers; and four sisters.  Mr. Barnett worked in construction for more than 60 years.  He was an avid Alabama football fan, enjoyed gardening, and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Madison Barnett; three daughters, Lisa Hagood, Teresa Morgan, and Pam Ritchie; sister, Mary Jane Kitchens; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 

Pallbearers will be Josh Barnett, Justin Dotson, Preston Davis, Joey Ritchie, Blake Farley, and Braylon Reeves.  Honorary pallbearer will be Tylon Smith.
