Graveside service for Nan Jean Ellenburg Holmes, age 76, of Trinity, will be 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Midway Memorial Gardens with Rev. Devin Cross officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Guestbook available at www.parkwayfh.com.
Mrs. Holmes, who died Saturday, May 9, 2026, at her residence, was born April 11, 1950, in Alabama to Bill Ellenburg and Olivia Bradford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Holmes, and her parents. Nan Holmes was a sweet and caring woman who loved her family deeply, and found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted Alabama football fan. She also enjoyed relaxing with her favorite game shows and soap operas. She had a kind heart, a gentle spirit, and a way of making those around her feel loved and welcome. Nan will be remembered for the love she shared with her family, the care she showed others, and the special memories made with those she held closest to her heart.
She is survived by her son, Tim Spears (Wendy); daughter, Kimberly Carpenter (Tracy); one brother; six sisters; five grandchildren, Baylee Cross (Devin), Trace Carpenter (Rayleigh), Nick Spears, Maeghan Sutton (Wesley), and Tori Spears; eight great-grandchildren; and her beloved caregiver, Ronda Rikard.
Pallbearers will be Tracy Carpenter, Trace Carpenter, Devin Cross, Lamar Bradford, Kim Nichols, and Bill Morris.
