Funeral service for Minnie Cloteen (Kelley) Phillips, age 94, of Hillsboro will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Moody officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips, who died Friday, March 27, 2026, at her residence, was born June 27, 1931, in Alabama to John Wesley Kelley and Annie Carolina Letson Kelley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eugene Phillips; sons, Charles Ray Phillips, Carl Wade Phillips (Jennifer), and Willie Price Phillips; daughter, Lillian Genise Morgan; parents; brothers, Wade Kelley (Betty), Sam Kelley (Lolia), and Elton Kelley (Sherry); sisters, Leatha Kelley, Virgie Kelley (J.W.), Annie Mae Reed (Joy), Dorothy Johnson (Alford), and twin sister Linnie Kelley (died at birth); and son-in-law, Chester Curtis. She was a follower of the Baptist faith and was much loved by her large 5th generation family. Cloteen loved to play her guitar, sing, and collect dolls.
She is survived by three daughters, Margaret Faye Curtis McGinnis (Donald), Vivian Rebecca Kelley (Timmy), and Phyllis Janet Floyd (Frank, Sr.); sisters-in-law, Betty Kelley and Sherry Kelley; 29 grandchildren; a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren; and her poodle companion, Teddy.
Pallbearers will be Stacy Curtis, Vince Adams, Samuel Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Dustin English and Rodney Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Smith, Jeremy Floyd, Billy McMillan, Jr., Kaydon Tucker, and Colton Smith.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, P. O. Box 7745, Decatur, AL 35602.
