Michael Paul Burns

Funeral service for Michael Paul Burns, age 67, of Decatur will be 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Cantrell officiating.  The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service.  Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.  

Mr. Burns, who died Monday, August 4, 2025, at his residence, was born March 3, 1958, in Illinois to Milan Dean Burns and Eileen Bradley Burns.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Burns (Mary); and sister, Dianne Deen (Garry).  Mike was a 1976 graduate of Lee High School in Huntsville.  He retired from General Electric following 33 years of service from 1990 until 2023.  He attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Decatur.  Mike was an avid Alabama football fan and would often travel to watch the Crimson Tide play.

He is survived by his wife, Madras Lynn (Jeffries) Burns; two sons, Jason Hill and David Hill; brother, Patrick Burns (Carol); and three sisters, Mary Cattadoris (Ed), Margaret Cobb (Dennis) and Michelle O'Brien (Jim). 

Pallbearers will be Jason Hill, David Hill, Garry Deen, Dennis Cobb, Patrick Burns, and Nathan Brown.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Cattadoris, Bobby Burns, and Chris Cattadoris.
