Obituary

Graveside service for McArthur P. Shelton, age 80, of Danville, will be 2:00 p.m.on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Midway Memorial Gardens with Stanley Linderman officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Shelton, who died Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his residence, was born June 4, 1942, in Alabama to Homer Shelton and Gladys Glenn Shelton.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Allison Wimberley; his parents; two brothers, Gilbert Shelton and O'Neal Shelton; sister, Virginia Hill; brother-in-law, Leonard Hill; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Shelton.  Mr. Shelton was an avid deer hunter.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Willie Mae (Smith) Shelton; son, Derek Shelton (Pam); son-in-law, Terry Wimberley; sister-in-law, Dorothy Shelton; four grandchildren, Dexter Wimberley (Brittany), Tara Terry (Justen), Sydni Franklin (Jake), and Preston Shelton (Whitney); and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be family and friends. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley or The American Cancer Society.
