Mason Asa Cullison

Celebration of Life for Mason Asa Cullison, age 37, of Decatur will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service.  Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.

Mr. Cullison, who died Saturday, October 4, 2025, at his residence, was born January 29, 1988, in Alabama to Richard Marvin Cullison and Jennifer Lynn Thompson Cullison.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas Thompson, Jr., Linda "Nanny" Thompson, Arthur Cullison, and Joyce Cullison; uncles, Clive Cullison and Dub Glover; and cousin, Lacey Stephens.

Mason was a man who found his peace and purpose in the great outdoors.  Whether he was fishing, hunting, or kayaking, he was most at home surrounded by nature.  He had a unique talent for invention and imagination that led him to create things no one else could ever think of.  His greatest joy was sharing those adventures with his daughter, Stella.  He loved watching her grow, teaching her about the outdoors, and sharing with her the simple joys that meant the most to him.  Together they shared their love with Rigid, Mason's beloved dog and best friend.  Mason also cherished the time spent with his friends and family.  He was surrounded by an abundance of people who loved him and he was considered family to everyone around him.  Family was always one of the most important things to him;  he did not separate friends or family; they were all one to him.  Mason's presence was rare--the kind that lingers long after he's gone.  He had a spirit all his own, the kind you don't come across twice in a lifetime.  

He is survived by his daughter, Stella Cullison (mother, Heather Ward); father, Richard Cullison (Rose); mother, Jennifer T. Cullison; brother, Zack Cullison (Tracey); sister, Hannah C. Victorino (Matt Baldwin); two uncles, Tommy Thompson and Nick Cullison (Kristi); three aunts, Denise Lane (Bobby), Mary Lou Glover, and Robyn Thompson; nephew/nieces, Jackson Elkins (Brooke), Jordan Cullison, and Caroline Cullison; cousins, Chance Lane (Megan), Mackenzie Stone, Jessica Bzdell (John), Austin Thompson (Sam), Tara Cullison, Bryan Cullison, Cody Cullison, Courtney Howard , and Clay Stephens (Morgan); great-niece, Brynne Elkins; second cousins, Colt Terry, Carter Terry, Knox Lane, Lemon Bzdell, Ollie Bzdell, Freya Thompson, Aidan Cullison, Canon Cullison, Quinn Cullison, Lincoln Cullison, Leighton Howard, Landon Stephens, Kamryn Stephens, Brayden Stephens, and Leah Stephens; and best friend and faithful companion, Rigid.
