Mary Linda (Lump) Allen was born February 5, 1942, to the late Turner Phillips and Johnnie Mae Jackson in Union Springs, Alabama.
She departed this life peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved family on December 27, 2022. Mary accepted Christ at an early age and has been actively and faithfully attending Greater Peace Baptist Church for over 30 years. She volunteered to serve her congregation by assisting in the kitchen as part of the culinary staff for many years.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Elijah Allen, Jr. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ocie B. Triggs and Carrie B. Word Nelms.
Memories of her will be cherished by her children, Phillip (Eloise) Allen, Ola Kate (Larry) Goode, Elijah Allen, III, and Mary (Jeffrey) Thompson; one brother, Jimmie (Katy) Jones; 12 grandchildren, Nicole (Frank) Stewart, Michael Allen, Jr, Larry Goode, Jr, Caleb Goode, Jasmyn Hill, Malcolm Thompson, and Latrail Thompson, Preston Trammell, Edgarez Reynolds and Mashekia McGuire; Lauren Thompson and Jeffrey Thompson, Jr; four nieces and nephews, Rosa Bell, Louis Harris, Raymond (Sheila) Phillips, and Bishop Veronica Word (Willie) Haynes; 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a host of relatives, loved ones, and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Ms. Mary Allen will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, beginning at 11:00 AM at Greater Peace Baptist Church with interment at Evergreen Memorial Garden.
Visitation is Wednesday 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Progressive.
