Mary Alice (McGougan) Dendy

Funeral service for Mary Alice (McGougan) Dendy, age 80, of New Albany, MS (formerly of Alabama) will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenny Rogers officiating.  Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.  

Mrs. Dendy, who died Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at her residence in New Albany, MS, was born April 18, 1943, in Steele, MO to Wilburn and Opal McGougan.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Dendy; son, Dale Dendy; parents; and brother, James McGougan.  She was a faithful member of Calvary Tabernacle.. Her leisure time was enjoyed with crochet, her family, and her dog, Lucy.

She is survived by her son, Jim Dendy (Tina); daughter, Joyce Rakestraw (Nick); daughter-in-law, Sandy Dendy; sister-in-law, Faye McGougan; six grandchildren, Meranda Pruett (Tyson), James Dendy, Claden Rakestraw (Morgan), Amber Rakestraw, Kaylee Pearson (J.J.), and Savannah Dendy; and two great-grandchildren, Ava Pruett and Collins Pruett.

Pallbearers will be James Dendy, Claden Rakestraw, Nick Rakestraw, J. J. Pearson, Tyson Pruett, Joseph Cagle, and Kilor Johnson.
