Leona Gail Piper

Leona Gail Piper, age 60, of Decatur, died Sunday, March 23, 2025, at her residence.  Her family may host a celebration of life at a later date.  Parkway Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.  

Ms. Piper was born May 3, 1964, in Illinois to Guy Piper and Barbara Carol Goosinow.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  She had a love for dolphins, hockey (Chicago Blackhawks), wrestling, and her grandchildren.  She was a loving wife (40 years), daughter, mother, and grandmother.  Leona was a great bartender who enjoyed making crafts with beads and baking cookies with the grandchildren.  She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family.  Godzilla was her idol.

She is survived by her spouse, Alfredo Ortiz; two sons, Adrian Ortiz (Alyx) and Christopher Piper; two daughters, Ashley Crespo Windham (Rafiell) and Candice Ortiz Garcia (Jose); brother, Charles Piper; and 11 grandchildren, Abigail, Julian, Olivia, Trinity, Khloe, Kameron, Peyton, Isaly, Ruby, Lilly, and Aurora.
