Larry Ernest Norwood

Funeral service for Larry Ernest Norwood, age 77, of Trinity will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Chenault officiating.  The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service.  Interment will be in Decatur City Cemetery.  

Larry was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on March 1, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital surrounded by family.  He was born and raised in Decatur, AL to Howard and Lillie Mae Norwood.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Wayne Norwood.

Larry is survived by his wife, Lois Norwood; daughter, Etta Sue Clem (Robert); granddaughter, Christina Gilliland (Patrick); grandson, Michael Clem (Amanda); great-grandson, Karson Gilliland; great-granddaughter, Carlee Gilliland; and a host of extended family and friends.

For 56 wonderful years Larry was a loving and devoted husband to Lois. Together they built a life rooted in faith and love.  He was a proud father to his daughter, Etta, and treasured his role as papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Nothing brought him more happiness and joy than spending time with his family and sharing stories from a life well lived.

Larry was a faithful member of New Friendship Baptist Church, where he spent many years serving the Lord.  He believed strongly in prayer and standing firm in God's word.

He had worked since he was a young boy, and in 2013, after 46 years of service, he retired from Coca-Cola.  Following retirement Larry enjoyed spending time with his wife, going on camping trips, spending time with the grandkids and great-grandkids, and simply enjoying a blessed life.  He loved his family immensely and will be  missed by so many.

Pallbearers will be Robert Clem, Michael Clem, Patrick Gilliland, and Karson Gilliland.
