Jon Derix Maurice Gillespie

Graveside service for Jon Derix Maurice Gillespie, age 54, of Trinity will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Morris Chapel Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing and Rev. Timothy Brannon officiating.  Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.

Mr. Gillespie, who died Friday, February 6, 2026, in Decatur, was born October 31, 1971, in Alabama to Bobby Ray Gillespie and Carol Lou (Watts) Gillespie Hale.  He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Eric Gillespie.  Derix was a skilled guitarist; he loved to garden, and was a born again believer.

He is survived by his daughter, Victoria Christian Sparks; mother, Carol Hale (Harmon); brother, Daniel Hale (Erin); sisters, Tiffany Brannon (Mark) and Amy Hale; beloved mother of his daughter, April Sparks; and several nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
