John Allen Davis, born June 2, 1940, in Priceville, Alabama, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 8th, 2025. Mr. Davis lived in Tampa, Florida, for many years before
moving to Moulton, Alabama in 1997 and relocating to Trinity, Alabama, where he lived until his passing. Mr. Davis was looking forward to the day he would be reunited with his wife of 55 years, Kay Frances Potter, and his granddaughter, Kaylin Deann McDaniel, who preceded him in death. His family may host a Celebration of Life at a later date. Parkway Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. Davis is survived by his children, Vence Davis (Shoshanah), Donna Harris (Don), John Davis (Valerie), Kandi Debus (Christopher), and Tara Dasher. Mr. Davis was not just a dad to his children; he opened his heart and home to others. John Dasher and Jeff Dasher (Alexandrea) affectionately called him Pops. Mr. Davis had 10 grandchildren; the surviving include John Davis (Ashley), Adam Davis, Charlotte Trudeau (Gary), Christopher Jakob Debus, and Caleb John Debus; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Davis is survived by one sister, Geraldine Yarborough, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him and knew him as Uncle Johnny.
Mr. Davis understood that no one travels this journey of life alone. He was very blessed to have spent his time building, fostering, and celebrating his many friendships that transcended time and distance. Mr. Davis spent many years of service to others. At the time of his death, he was an active member of East Lawrence Church of God in Trinity, Alabama. During his many years in Tampa, Florida, Mr. Davis was actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, an activity where he would spend time with his sons while mentoring and giving back to others.
Mr. Davis will be greatly missed by those who loved him and those who knew him. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and others, his unwavering
faith, his wit, his stubbornness, and his fierce desire to live life on his terms until the end.
The family would like to thank the current and former staff of Affinity Hospice in Florence, Alabama, for their care, compassion, and commitment during his extended illness. A special thank you to Katie, Ashley, Matt, Jo, Farron, and Chaplain Bingham, who have consistently gone above and beyond. Their efforts had never gone unnoticed or unappreciated.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Affinity Hospice or East Lawrence Church of God in his name.
