Jerry Lane Lansford, age 77, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026. In the final years of his life, he made Decatur his home, surrounded by those who cared deeply for him. A Memorial Service will be 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Bates Farm, followed by visitation with the family.
Jerry was a faithful fan of George Jones, a tinkerer to the very end, and an entrepreneur for most of his life. He was always fixing something or striving to improve the lives of those around him. His curiosity, practical spirit, and generous heart left a lasting impact on family and friends alike. He will be greatly missed and always loved.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lansford; his longtime partner, Frankie Williams; and his siblings, Ben Lansford, Judy Lansford, and Pamela Creel.
He is survived by his children, Lisa Bates (Wayne) and Christina Lansford Hudson; his grandchildren, Jessie Vandagriff (Simon), John Williams (Sarah), Faith Creed (Greg), Alana Bates, John Hudson, and Joseph Hudson; his sister, Annette Lucas (Bobby); his good friend, Richard Allen; his longtime caregiver and friend, Sebrina Alexander; and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, well-wishers consider outdoor plants for Jerry’s memory garden. The family also extends special thanks to Parkway Funeral Home for their care during this time.
