Funeral service for James Walter "J. W." White, age 91, of Danville, will be 11:00 a .m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Denny Bowling officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Red Hill Cemetery.
Mr. White, who died Saturday, March 22, 2025, at his residence, was born March 17, 1934, in Alabama to Lewis Franklin White and Johnnie Beatrice McCleskey White. He was preceded in death by son, James A. White; daughter, Fonda McCartney (Dan); parents; brother, Rayburn White (Martha); two sisters, Louise Cowart (C. D.) and Beatrice Strickland (Jr.); and grandchild, Tana McCartney. He was an avid fisherman and coon hunter who loved spending time with his grandkids and playing music.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Mavene Crow White; daughter, Dee Dee Woodard (Harry); brother, Bobby White (Barbara); six grandchildren, Buddy White (Heather), Jeremy Hollis, Carmen Hollis, Candie Watson (Johnny), Chris McCartney (Mindy), and Destiney Brown; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Hollis, Buddy White, Trenton Hollis, Johnny Watson, Chris McCartney, and Tony Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Will Watson, Kade Watson, and Clinton White.
