James Franklin Waller, age 82, of Decatur, died Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Decatur Health & Rehabilitation. His family will host a private celebration of life at a later date. Parkway Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.
Mr. Waller was born July 17, 1943, in Georgia, to Howard Franklin Waller and Minnie Bell Moore Waller. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald Waller (Jerry); and sister, Yvonne Duke (Bill). He was a psychiatric social worker for Veterans Affairs for 42 years. He loved and respected our veterans. Mr. Waller was an avid golfer, great supporter of his community, faithful volunteer for the Neighborhood Christian Center, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kaye Washburn Waller; sons, Stephen Blake Waller (Sharon) and Howard Todd Waller; daughter, Heather Morgan; brothers, Thomas Ralph Waller (Linda) and Charles Dykes Waller (Karen); 11 grandchildren, Sam Waller, Dan Waller (Ari), Steve Waller, Abi Waller, Caleb Waller, Elizabeth Scheffe (Luke), Sarah Waller, Maria Faschnat (Darrell), Noah Dean, Anna Grace Dean, and Lydia Morgan; and a host of great-grandchildren.
