Glenda Fay (Sparks) Blackwood

Funeral service for Glenda F. "Fay" (Sparks) Blackwood of Trinity will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Kevin and Lucy Stallings officiating.  Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hartselle.  Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.

Fay's beautiful spirit left us to begin her journey with angels on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 7:01 p.m., at the age of 69.

She was surrounded by her family in the days preceding her death at home, and passed with her husband, Billy D. Blackwood, and daughter, Leslie F. Potestio, at her side.

Mrs. Blackwood was born on April 5, 1953, to Price and Pernie Sparks.  She spent her life actively attending church in Falkville at the former Falkville Church of God.  She also enjoyed Bingo nights at the Elks Lodge and Card-Bingo with her friends.  Fay enjoyed shopping and going to yard sales but was happiest with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was a genuine Heart of Gold, and a generous and kind soul. 

Mrs. Blackwood was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Royce Sparks and Ottis Sparks; one sister, Marie Grisham; and brother-in-law, Milton Grisham.

She is survived by her husband, Billy D. Blackwood; daughter, Leslie (Blackwood) Potestio (Tyler); two sisters, Sue Reed (J.R.) and Debbie Sparks; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Sparks and Dorothy Sparks; and three grandchildren, Carlie-Fay Blackwood, Ainsley Potestio,and Billie Potestio.  

Pallbearers will be Tyler Potestio, Anthony Hood, Preston Hood, Richard Foster, Michael Foster, and Kirk Flemming.
