Fannie Holbert Kirby, affectionately known as Fannie, graced this world with her presence on December 6, 1946, in Morgan County, Alabama, and departed from us on April 2, 2024, in Lawrence County, Alabama.

Fannie was a devoted member of Enon Baptist Church for over 58 years. She served as a Sunday School teacher.  Her life was a testament to her faith-filled spirit, her thoughtful nature, and her friendly demeanor, which touched the lives of many.

Fannie was the beloved daughter of the late Ernest M. Holbert and Estelle Newsom Holbert. She was the cherished sister to her siblings who preceded her in death; brothers, Ernest Junior, Sidney James, William "Bill",  Redding "Skip", and Arthur "Buck", and sisters, Ellen Jones, Ruth Barnett, Eloise Long, and Louise Heaps.

Her light will continue to shine through her devoted husband, Edward A Kirby of nearly 60 years, her adored daughter, Laura Kristine "Kristi" Kirby, and her dear sister, Pearl Carpenter.

A  graduate of West Morgan High School, class of 1965, Fannie valued education and furthered her knowledge with numerous banking-related courses. Her career was a reflection of her dedication and hard work, as she retired from Compass Bank after many years of service.

Fannie was not only committed to her profession, but also to her community. She was an active member of the Moulton Chapter Eastern Star #412, where she served with honor until her health no longer permitted her participation.

Her interests were a mirror to her soul. An avid University of Alabama Football fan, her battle cry of "Roll Tide" could warm any gathering with her enthusiasm.

Animals held a special place in Fannie's heart, as she found joy in bonding with her fur babies and hand-feeding orphan wild creatures. Her love for all God's creatures was a true reflection of her kind and generous spirit.

Those who knew Fannie will remember her for her unwavering faith, her considerate and caring ways, and her ability to make friends wherever she went.  She was a beacon of love and friendship, a pillar in her family, and a cherished friend to many.

As we bid farewell to Fannie, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and lasting memories. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she has left behind. Though we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Fannie Holbert Kirby has found eternal peace in Heaven.

Her life will be honored in a ceremony that will reflect her values and the profound impact she had on those around her.

Fannie's journey on earth might have ended, but her story will continue to be told by those who loved her and the many lives she touched with her gentle spirit.

We take solace in the memories we shared and the love that Fannie gave so freely.
