Edward Aaron Smith

Funeral service for Edward Aaron Smith, age 81, of Moulton will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jesse Reeder officiating.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service.  Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.  

Mr. Smith, who died October 2, 2024, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born December 16, 1942, in Alabama to James Smith and Angie Wade Smith.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Smith, and his parents.  Mr. Smith was a loving husband, father, and pawpaw.  He retired as Sgt. 1st Class, and was a veteran of the Vietnam war, having received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Model, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He is survived by his son, Bradley Smith (Amanda); daughter, Jenna Freeman (Bobby); brother, Darryl Smith (Diane); sister, Sheila Spigle (Yon); and six grandchildren, Audrie Sandlin, Lainey Sandlin, Reagan Smith, Grace Smith, Anthony Freeman, and Catie Freeman.

Pallbearers will be Craig Jones, Nick Spigle, Ronald Burke, Clayton Louallen, Brian Letson, and Josh Mitchell.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Freeman and Anthony Freeman.
