Doris Louise (Putnam) Montgomery

Funeral service for Doris Louise (Putnam) Montgomery, age 81, of Decatur will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Williams and Bro. Mrs. Montgomery, who died Monday, April 6, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born November 19, 1944, in Alabama to Robert Eldgen Putnam and Dorothy Hill Putnam.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Thomas Montgomery, Sr.; son, Lewis Thomas Montgomery, Jr.; parents; brothers, James Putnam (Gail) and Clifford Putnam (Janis); and sisters, Marie Panella (Tony) and Ann Leach (Leonard).  Doris worked at Holoway's Meat Market for more than 40 years.  She enjoyed meeting people from the community and made many friends.  She attended First Holy Church of Christ of Decatur with her family and friends.  Doris also loved her family very much and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Fuller (Tony); sister, Barbara Brown (Charles); five grandchildren, T. J. Montgomery, Jessica Smithson (Jesse), Jacob Fuller (Tiffany Scott), Dylan Montgomery, and Laura Doss; and two great-grandchildren, Karter Smithson and Jax Smithson.

Pallbearers will be Chris Putnam, Jason Putnam, Marlon Tucker, Marshall Tucker, T. J. Montgomery, and Jacob Fuller.
