Graveside service for Donnis Debra (Eddy) Banks, age 71, of  Decatur will be 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Liberty Cemetery with Bro. Rich Thompson officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.

Mrs. Banks, who died Saturday, March 2, 2024, in Falkville, was born October 30, 1952, in Alabama to Marvin Eddy and Bessie Gist Eddy.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Banks; infant twins, Brandon Heath Banks and Tracey Lee Banks; brothers, Wendell Eddy (Tulia) and Marvin Eddy, Jr. (Diane); and grandson, Wyatt Lee LaPradd.  As Union President for Kroger (United Food and Commercial Workers International Union) for 20 years, she was an advocate for associates' rights in the workplace, representing them and fighting for their fair treatment.  Mrs. Banks was very creative and thoroughly enjoyed arranging flowers.  She worked in the floral shop at Kroger as well as formerly owning her own shop.  A loving mom and grandmother, she will be sorely missed by her family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda "Mandy" LaPradd (Bill); two brothers, Kyle Eddy (Marie) and J. V. Eddy (Katie); sister, Yvonne Thompson (Braly); sister-in-law, Diane Eddy; friend, Adam Ray; and three grandchildren, William "Hunter" Harkins, Addison Grace Harkins, and Jackson Lee LaPradd.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Banks, Patrick Banks, Jason Thompson, Michael Thompson, David Eddy, and Kelvin Eddy.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of the Valley, specifically Elana Clemons and Stephanie Russell, for their compassionate care of Mrs. Banks.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley (240 Johnson Street, S.E., Decatur, AL 35601) or Make A Way Autism Foundation (256-434-1762).
