Funeral service for Cora Lee "Lucy" (Gillespie) Moody Mason, age 81, of Priceville, will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with O D. Bowling and Ricky Naylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Moulton City Cemetery. Mrs. Mason, who died Friday, July 18, 2025 at her residence, was born November 8, 1943, in Alabama to Dyke Hudson Gillespie and Reba Elizabeth Mahathy Gillespie. She was preceded in death by two sons, John David Moody and Brandy Jake Moody; her parents; and brother, Norman Gillespie.. Lucy was a devoted member of County Line Church of Christ. She worked 17 years at the Lawrence Corporation and 25 years with General Electric in Decatur. She loved gardening, cooking, preserving foods, and decorating. Her favorite sports were Roll Tide football and basketball.
She is survived by her husband, William Henry "Bill" Mason; son, Jonathan Davis Moody (Celeste); daughter, Angela Moody (Robin); stepdaughter, Angela Bumpus; brother, Mac Gillespie; sister, Shirley Gillespie; four grandchildren, Jonathan Davis Moody, II (Jade), Kaitlan Elizabeth Wilson (Clay), Cole Medders (Hannah), and Bonnie Hughes (Shay); and two great-grandchildren, Autumn Wilson and Carter Wilson.
Pallbearers will be Jason Proctor, Randell Proctor, Matthew Moody, Gregory Moody, Jonathan Moody, Courtney Dagenhart, and Johnny Moody. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Moody, Clint Proctor, Douglas Mason, Roger Jones, Clay Wilson, and Tim Moody.
The family would like to express their special thanks to Southern Care New Beacon Hospice, Kimberly Pace, Kendall Destafino, and Bridget Pepper; her caregivers, Tiana Harris, Pam Wall, and Sabrina Alexander; and Chaplain Otto Wood.
