Betty Jean (Knighten) Laymon

Funeral service for Betty Jean (Knighten) Laymon, age 71, of Decatur will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chris Reeves officiating.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in Midway Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Laymon, who died Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at her residence, was born January 5, 1953, in Alabama to Bervie Elmer "Bud" Knighten and Annie Ruth Raper Knighten.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, Kenneth, Wanda, Patricia, and Ray.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Gene Laymon; son, Marvin McGee Laymon; daughter, Betty Renee Davis; stepson, Jeremy Laymon; brother, Wesley Knighten; three grandchildren, April Ledlow, Josh Davis, and Leah Sapp; and nine great-grandchildren, Jasmin Holmes, Kaylee Holmes, Savannah Ledlow, Whitlee Sapp, Ella Sapp, Houston Sapp, Journee Sapp, Karter McDaniel, and Nolan Milam.

Pallbearers will be Justin Sapp, Kenneth Sapp, Dewayne Davis, Perry Davis, Daniel Davis, and Ben Herron.
