Funeral service for Annie Lue Jane (Nelson) Nesmith will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neal Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Bald Knob Cemetery. Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.
Mrs. Nesmith, who died Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital, was born September 29, 1937, in Alabama to William Bethal Nelson and Hattie Ophelia Mae McDougal Nelson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verbon NeSmith; parents; six brothers, J. W. "Shorty" Nelson (Myrl), Lawrence Nelson, Harrison Nelson (Estelle), Willard Nelson, Tillman Nelson, and Jack Nelson; sister, Flossie Burns (Jewel); and grandchildren, Chris NeSmith and Amber NeSmith. Annie Lue was a member of Parkway Church of God. She was retired from Wolverine Industries. She loved gardening and canning. Cooking and making treats for family and friends was a joy. She also loved to study God's word and was a mighty prayer warrior. Annie Lue was a loving caregiver to everyone she knew.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Nesmith and Talmadge NeSmith; daughters, Melesha Atchison (Douglas) and Marquita NeSmith; brother, Tommy Nelson (Sue); sister, Ruth McCay (Andrew); four grandchildren, Shalah Cartee (Jason), Stacy Hamilton, Thomas Demoss (Jessi), and Brandon Towe (Alivia); five great-grandsons, Dylan Demoss, Zander Cartee, Michael Demoss, Lachlan Demoss, and Claydon Towe; and four great-granddaughters, Dayla Cartee, Riley Cartee, Lucy Demoss, and Charlie Towe.
Pallbearers will be Stacy Hamilton, Brandon Towe, Thomas Demoss, Zander Cartee, Zack Blankenship, and Chris Parker.
