Anne Lee Obituary

Funeral service for Anne (Sivley) Lee, age 90, of Lawrence County, will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynn Terry officiating.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service.  Interment will be in Morris Chapel Community Cemetery West.  Guestbook available at www.parkwayfunerals.com.

She is survived by two daughters, Andrea Lee Morgan (Roderick) and Karen Lee Dutton; niece, Leigh Jackson; six grandchildren, Jason Roderick Morgan, Adam Benjamin Lee, Abby Gail Lee, Seth Daniel Dutton, Corey Lee Morgan (Cristy Brown Morgan), and Scott Alan Lee (Erica Bourgeois Lee) and four great-grandchildren, Angelina Marie Morgan, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Ayden Daniel Dutton, and Scarlett Rose Lee.

Anne was born to Wendell and Jewel Holland Sivley on January 2, 1934, Lawrence County was home until junior high when the family moved to Decatur.  She attended Decatur High School where she was a majorette, member of the Honor Society, and School Favorite.  Anne married her high school sweetheart, Benjamin R. Lee, upon his return from serving in the Marine Corps.  She worked various places and raised three children.  Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Eastwood Elementary Library, and Homeroom Mother were her favorite volunteer activities with her children.  She taughter her children the hobby of stamp collecting, which now lays in store for her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; her son, Benjamin R. Lee, Jr.; her parents; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  In addition to members of her immediate family, she is survived by her brother-in-law, Richard Lee, and special cousins, Jan Watson, Randy and Diane Newman, Larry and Judy Sivley, Marie Sivley, John Corbin Sivley, and Allen Sivley.

She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church; she attended in every town the family moved to with her husband's job.  But her heart never left Lawrence County.  She and Ben built a house there in 1980.  Anne enjoyed volunteering at the Lawrence County Archives and with the Morris Chapel Community Burial Society.

Out of all God's creation, flowers and birds were her favorites.  She took pride in teaching her grandhcildren and great-grandchildren about both subjects.  She enjoyed many residents at Riverside Senior Living, her last home. 

Pallbearers will be Jason Morgan, Corey Morgan, Adam Lee, Scott Lee, and Seth Dutton.  Honorary pallbearer will be Abby Lee.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Lawrence County Archives (698 Main Street, Moulton, AL 35650) or Morris Chapel Community Burial Society (2905 Spring Avenue, S.W., Decatur, AL 35603).
