Funeral service for Andrew Jackson McCay, Jr., age 85, of Moulton will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Neal Fowler, Thomas Lott, and Steven Ray officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. McCay, who died Sunday, August 31, 2025, at his residence was born February 18, 1940, in Alabama to Andrew Jackson McCay, Sr. and Mattie Waldrep McCay. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marlin McCay and Everett McCay; and five sisters, Myrle Nelson, Shirley Newton, Sylvia Hames, Ora Dean Hensley, and Melba Terry.
Andrew McCay, a faithful and devoted husband, Daddy, Grandpa, and Paw Paw, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He lived a life marked by unwavering faith, dedication to service, and deep love for his family and community.
A longtime member of the Moulton Church of God, Andrew faithfully served as church clerk for an extraordinary 51 years. His commitment to his church family reflected his strong spiritual foundation and humble leadership.
Andrew was also deeply involved in public service beyond the church walls. He served as a trustee on the Joe Wheeler EMC Board for 23 years and dedicated 20 years to the Wheeler Basin Gas Board, contributing his wisdom and integrity to the betterment of the region.
Born and raised in Lawrence County, Andrew graduated from Lawrence County High School before going on to earn a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Auburn University. He later obtained his post-graduate administration education certificate from Alabama A&M University, further demonstrating his commitment to education and lifelong learning.
Andrew’s professional career was rooted in his love for agriculture and education. He began as an agriscience teacher at East Limestone High School, where he taught for two years, and then continued his teaching career at Danville High School for 22 years. He served as the FFA advisor at Danville, taking his students to regional and national competitions many times. He later served as the Vocational Director for Morgan County Schools for 12 years, helping shape the futures of countless students through vocational and technical education.
Andrew’s life was a testament to faith, service, and family. His legacy will live on in the lives of those he mentored, taught, served with, and most of all, loved.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Nelson McCay; four daughters, Pam Webster (Brian), Vanessa Lott (Thomas), Andrea McCay, and Duana Ray (Steven); bonus daughter, Denise Adams; two brothers, Hollis McCay and Dwight McCay; seven grandchildren, Priscilla Webster Parker (Chris), Matthew Webster (Crystal), Andrew Lott (Suzannah), Jordan Ray, Adam Lott (Lexi), Whitney Ray Sloan (Jacob), and Cameron Adams; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Webster, Andrew Lott, Adam Lott, Cameron Adams, Jacob Sloan, and Westyn Webster.
