On June 11th, this world lost one of its most powerful, gentle, and iconic angels. Susan Elizabeth Reimer Massey went to sleep that evening not knowing the Lord was taking her anxieties, fears, and hopelessness with her to meet him that evening. As my mother stands before God, he asks her why she has so much baggage. “Baggage is an earthly thing, my daughter, and it’s time to lay it all at my feet so you may experience the freedom you have so long deserved. “After laying down her baggage, Susan turns to see her Mother, Father, Tom, Julia, and so many others in her life. They celebrate her arrival and mourn for the ones still struggling on Earth. We are the ones that must make them proud in our actions, and honor them with our hearts.
Susan is survived by her husband, Floyd Massey, three daughters, Wendy Dugan, Lori Dugan, and Elizabeth Lundy, and a son Kevin Brown. She also has grandsons Tripper Burnette-Brown, and Dalton Parson. Stepdaughter Niki and Danny Gee, along with grandchildren Kinley and Noah.
The thing about Susan, is that everyone was family to her. If a stranger didn’t have a shirt, he or she would be wearing one by the time my mother left their encounter. She was a champion to the lest fortunate, adopting the meekest underdogs to show the world their worth once they were healthy again.
Susan is also survived by her brother, Ken Reimer, and her sister Martha Reed. The funeral service will be Saturday June 15, 2019 at 2pm at Parkway Funeral Home with Melvin Massey officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home.
